Ly Tran is a Professor in the School of Education, Deakin University and an Australian Research Council Future Fellow. Her research focuses on international students across the school, VET and HE sectors, student mobility, the New Colombo Plan, staff professional learning in international education. She also undertakes projects on higher education, vocational education and graduate employability in Vietnam and China. Ly has been awarded six grants on international student mobility, internationalising teaching and learning and staff professional development in international education from the Australian Research Council.
Ly has received over 40 awards, accolades, fellowships and scholarships for her contributions to research, policy advice and commentary. She was named as one of Vietnam’s 50 Most Influential Women 2019 by Forbes Vietnam (Research-Education Category) and one of 50 top voices in international education in Australia-ASEAN 2023 by the PIE. Ly received the Inaugural Melbourne Asia Game Changer Award by the Asia Society Australia and the Inaugural Shining Star Achievement in Research – Noam Chomsky Global Connections Award.
